Howard Rebhun is listed as a right-handed pitcher, second and third baseman on his summer team roster. A natural righty, he only bats right-handed.

“I just wanted to be different from everyone else.” — Howard Rebhun, the 14-year-old member of the New England Knights who can pitch with either his left or right arm.

A news article states that Rebhun was inspired by Pat Venditte to switch pitch in games.

It’s not often that you see a baseball pitcher throw with both his right and left arms, as seen with first-year Oakland A’s pitcher Pat Vendetti. Well, Bristol has such a fellow, too, in Bristol Central freshman Howard Rebhun, whom I met recently.

The son of David and Nancy Rebhun of Bristol, he started baseball as a five-year-old right-handed hurler. Then, four years later, he also started tossing from his left side and today he’s almost equal performance-wise from each side.

“I just wanted to be different from everyone else,” Rebhun said. “I throw a little faster on my right side, but otherwise pitch equally well.”
